Lucknow: Following the gang rape of a 35-year-old woman and her 14-year-old daughter, which took place in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr on July 29 (Friday) night, by a gang of robbers, UP CM Akhilesh Yadav on Friday announced a compensation of Rs 3 lakh and a flat each, to both the victims.
Meanwhile, investigations in the gang rape case are still under way.
Speaking about the incident, DIG Meerut Lakshmi Singh had earlier said, “A case has been registered against the unidentified accused men under Sections 376 D (gang-rape), 397 (robbery or dacoity with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt) and 395 (punishment for dacoity). We have been working on criminals from such ‘Bawaria’ and ‘Chamaar’ nomadic tribes and have showed the victims a database of 200 photographs.”
Earlier when the incident took place on July 29, the robbers took the family at gunpoint and forced them to drive into the fields. The male members were isolated and that’s when the woman and her daughter were gangraped by the robbers. They snatched the money and jewellery from the victims and fled.
However, the family managed to reach the nearest police station to file a complaint on Saturday. As soon as the police got info about the incident, they reached the spot immediately, rescued the victims and sent them for medical examination and FIR was lodged.
