Mumbai: When Seventh Pay Commission's recommendations come into force, salaries of Maharashtra Chief Minister, other ministers and MLAs will be increased by the state government.
State Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will draw Rs 2.25 lakh month while the President’s salary will continues to be Rs 1.5 lakh a month.
And as per the state legislature, the salaries of the chief minister, members of opposition and officials of both Houses of legislature will be at par with that of the chief secretary.
The pay recommendation for the secretary rank is Rs 1.44 lakh, principal secretary Rs 1.82 lakh, and additional chief secretary Rs 2.05 lakh a month.
State governor C Vidyasagar Rao will soon earn a lot less than his own secretary.
While his pay will continue to be Rs 1.1 lakh, the chief secretary will get Rs 2.25 lakh. The governor's own secretary will earn Rs 1.44 lakh.
As per RBI data, Maharashtra has the highest debt burden. The salary hikes are expected to cost the state a whopping Rs 21,000 crore a year.
