PM Modi, Putin and Jayalalithaa inaugurate Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant by video conferencing

New Delhi: Two of the world's greatest powers, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin along with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa came together to inaugurate the first ever Russian designed nuclear power plant in Kudankulam.

The inauguration function was organised over video conferencing between the three leaders in their respective capitals.

Unit-1 of the Russian designed nuclear power plant jointly constructed in India was successfully inaugurated after it showcased stable operations. The actual performance of the plant has surpassed the designed expectations today after it was inaugurated. The new unit of the plant is expected revolutionise nuclear power generation in India.

At the inauguration of the nuclear power plant in Kudankulam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciated the Russian support in the building of the power plant and said that he was looking forward to meeting the Russian President Valdamir Pitun at the G20 Summit in China
