Sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan's UK visa gets rejected

New Delhi: Internationally acclaimed sarod player Ustad Amjad Ali Khan was on Friday denied visa for United Kingdom. Ustad Amjad Ali Khan took to his Twitter handle to express his grief on being denied the visa by the British High Commission in Delhi. 
The sarod artist tweeted his displeasure over not being given the UK visa.

The sarod maestro was supposed to peform at the Royal Festival Hall in London in September and therefore had applied for the visa. The news came hours after the Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan was detained for two hours at the Los Angeles airport.
Amjad Ali Khan said he had been performing abroad since the 1970s and the rejection of visa has disappointed him. He also said that it is sad that artists who are spreading the message of love and peace are being detained at the airports and denied visas.
Another of the aritst's tweet read: My UK visa rejected. Extremely sad for artists who are spreading the message of love & peace @HCI_London @MEAIndia @UKinIndia @SushmaSwaraj 
Expressing disappointment over the UK denial, Amjad's son Amaan Ali said, "This has never happened before. In our country this is not cool.
"It is very sad that it has happened to him. He is someone who has worked all his life for the country and peace. The government should take interest why they (UK) are doing this."
