New Delhi: Congress president Sonia Gandhi was discharged from New Delhi's Ganga Ram Hospital on Sunday after suffering from high fever on her visit to Varanasi.
DS Rana, chairman of Ganga Ram Hospital, confirmed that the Congress president would be discharged as she was showing signs of improvement.
Sonia Gandhi had taken ill on her road-show in Varanasi where she suffered from fever, a shoulder injury and dehydration. After she was admitted to a hospital in Varanasi, she was immediately transferred to the Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had swiftly responded to the news by sending his personal doctors to check with the ailing opposition leader.
Sonia Gandhi had visited Varanasi to launch campaign for the Congress party for the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections due next year. The Congress leader said that she would be back in Varanasi.
