New Delhi: After the atrocities being perpetrated by the Pakistan government in Balochistan in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) was extensively covered, the Congress Party on Tuesday supported Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remark which censured Pakistan for its interference in Kashmir.
Issuing a statement on Monday evening, the Congress party entreated the government to address the issue of human rights abuse in Balochistan and in other parts of Pakistan occupied Kashmir when bilateral meetings will be held in Islamabad.
"The Congress does not subscribe to the statement made by Salman Khurshid who is a senior leader. He can have his own opinion. Our view is very, very clear. Congress party believes there are serious human rights violations in Balochistan and the voice of democratic dissent is being suppressed by Pakistani forces and agencies. Similar human rights violations are being committed by the armed forces of Pakistan in PoK which is an integral part of India. All such issues need to be raised and need to be sorted out," said Randeep Sujrewala.
Congress distanced itself from its party member Salman Khurshid's comment which was: "PoK is our right. Our entitlement. We will support it. But by bringing in Balochistan, you are ruining our case."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier issued a warning to Pakistan that if Islamabad continuously meddled with India's affairs, India would be forced to reveal Pakistan's skeletons from inside its closet.
