New Delhi: Union Minister of State for External Affairs, VK Singh's wife was on Wednesday threatened with an extortion call demanding Rs 2 crore. According to reports, Bharti Singh, the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) leader's wife, got the extortion call by a relative's friend named Pradeep Chauhan.

In what looks like a case of blackmail, Chauhan threatened Bharti Singh saying he would release some audio and video clips on social media platforms if the monetary demand was not met. However, Bharti Singh was unaware of the contents of the clip which the blackmailer was threatening to release.

"In her complaint, she has alleged that one Pradeep Chauhan, who is a friend of her nephew, started calling her in odd hours and threatening her of dire consequences if she would not give him Rs two crore," a police officer said.

A complaint has been lodged at Tughlaq Road Police station; keeping in mind the sensitivity of the case, Delhi Police is maintaining silence. Meanwhile, a special team has been deployed to investigate the case and catch hold of the blackmailer.
