New Delhi: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah laid the foundation for the party's new headquarters in New Delhi on Thursday.
The BJP headquarter, which will be a 70-room building, will be situated on Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg in New Delhi. Covering an area of 8,000-square-metre, the party office will be an eco-friendly building with 70 per cent green area.
With the BJP party members and delegates expanding in the national capital, the new headquarter is set to relieve some problems regarding inadequate space for the officials. The new headquarters is at close proximity with the current BJP headquarters at 11 Ashoka Road.
If the construction goes smoothly, the party building will be inaugurated two years later on Atal Bihari Vajpayee's birthday on December 25.
“The building will reflect all parts of the country. While the exterior will have a traditional look, the green building will have all the latest facilities,” Arun Singh, BJP's General Secretary had said.
