Rising water level in Ganga causes flood-like situation in Allahabad

Allahabad: Following heavy rainfall, the water level in river Ganga was on rage on Tuesday in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Many parts of the state are flooded with the situation expected to get worse in the coming days.

The city of Allahabad was also seeing a flood-like situation. The rising water level in the Ganga also forced Bhadohi village people to move to safer places.

Earlier in the day, at least two persons drowned in the Yamuna in Allahabad after a car was swept away in the river, police said.

Three friends, including the manager of a Christian school, had gone to see the flood-swollen river when the incident took place around 2 a.m.

The car drowned at Naini near the DPS School. The dead were identified as Mitchell Innes and Ambuj Pandey, police said.
