New Delhi: An Air India flight bound for Newark from Mumbai made a precautionary landing on Thursday in Kazakhstan purportedly after the fire alarm inside the airplane went off.

All passengers in the Boeing 777 are reportedly safe after the aircraft landed early Thursday morning at the Kazakhstan airport. The crew inside the flight could not explain what exactly had made the fire alarm go off.

Leaving from the Mumbai International airport around 2:25 am in the morning, it reached Kazakhstan around 8:00 am. There was no smoke seen inside the aircraft despite the alarm.

A replacement aircraft has been readied at Delhi airport if the problem with the current Boeing 777 is not resolved.
