Jaipur: In what can be termed as a major setback for Congress and its student body National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) emerged victorious by winning in most student union polls in Rajasthan’s universities and colleges.
Results were declared on Wednesday night where ABVP students bagged the post of the president in most colleges and universities.
Talking about Bikaner, ABVP contestants won for the post of president in all the three universities. Lokeshwar Singh, Ashok Chaudhary and Vikram Singh won the president’s post in Rajasthan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University and Maharaja Ganga Singh University respectively. However, NSUI found some respite in Ajmer, where its contestants won the post of president, vice-president and general secretary posts at Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University.
Unhappy and angered with the results, NSUI supporters pelted stones at police staff at Jaipur’s Bhopalgarh college and also staged a protest.
Elections were held in government colleges and universities of Rajasthan districts, except in Jaipur and Udaipur.
