Mumbai: On the occasion of Janmashtami celebrations, fourteen ‘Govindas’ were injured on Thursday while attempting to break ‘Dahi Handi’ in Mumbai.
All the injured persons were admitted to a hospital and given medical treatment. Later, ten of them who received minor injuries were discharged.
Meanwhile, Dahi Handi organisers across Maharashtra staged protests over the Supreme Court’s order of 20 plus feet cap for human pyramids during the festival.
The Govindas in Dadar area of Mumbai prostrated on the roads and formed a pyramid protesting against the ban.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to entertain a plea seeking modification of restriction over height of human pyramids in the Dahi Handi functions.
The apex court also observed that children below 18 years of age should not be allowed to participate.
