New Delhi: In yet another shocking incident of government's apathy on poor rural people, a pregnant woman had to walk 6 km through a waterlogged area to reach hospital in Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh.

The pregnant woman was forced to start walking when the state government's 'Janani Express' (ambulance) didn't reach her on time.

“This is not the first time, it happens a lot of time in the village,” said the woman.

She said she was in a lot of pain when the villagers carried her on a 'charpai'.

According to the woman’s husband, their village is badly connected to rest of the mainland.

“We pulled the auto out and then took my wife to the hospital,” he said.

Unfortunately, on their way to the hospital, the auto got stuck in a pond.

“When the auto got stuck in pond, my wife and the ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) worker walked ahead to get to the hospital as she was in a lot of pain,” said the husband.
