New Delhi: Few weeks after a woman was kidnapped and gang-raped on the National Highway (NH) 24 near Bareilly, three teenaged sisters who went missing on August 26 (Friday) afternoon were found dead on Saturday evening. Their dead bodies reportedly turned up in the Bhakra river.

The three cousins aged 13, 14 and 15, had gone to defecate near the outskirts of their village.

After they did not return home in time, one of the victims’ mother went to the village’s outskirts but did not find them. Later, the family reported the matter to the police following which a First Information Report (FIR) was launched on the same day.

Meanwhile, one of the victims’ kin claimed that there was a property dispute with some other villagers and alleged that the girls might have been killed over the same issue.
