New Delhi: Residents of Jorhat in Assam on Monday organised a unique wedding of frogs to appease rain Gods. Villagers of the region gathered at a ceremonial event as a priest solemnised the wedding.
Among Hindu, there is a belief that marrying wild frogs with traditional rites like human beings can bring rainfall.
Earlier this week, frog weddings were solemnised by the Rongdoi village to please the Hindu Rain God Barun.
In recent times, lack of rainfall affected the paddy crops in most parts of Assam.
