About 2.5 kg of gold jewellery dumped in a toilet of Air India plane was on Sunday seized by the authorities in Goa.

New Delhi: About 2.5 kg of gold jewellery dumped in a toilet of Air India plane was on Sunday seized by the authorities at the Goa airport.

The Customs and Central Excise officials said that the gold was hidden in a toilet on the flight which arrived at Goa airport from Dubai on Sunday morning.

“The gold was hidden in the toilet on the flight which arrived here this morning. We found 2.5 kg of unclaimed gold worth Rs 70 lakh,” a Customs spokesman said.

The authorities said they are investigating the matter and are going through the list of passengers who flew in the flight.

This is for the third time that unclaimed gold has been found in Air India flight that arrived from Dubai to Goa this year.
