New Delhi: Delhi water minister Kapil Mishra on Sunday organised the first Mohalla Sabha in Karawal Nagar where people voted overwhelmingly to shift out the liquor shop from their residential area.

A large crowd gathered at the main chowk to vote against the liquor shop.

However, some people who were in favour of the liquor shop to continue created a ruckus. Later the voting took place successfully.

The AAP-led government has identified around 2,800 mohallas, each comprising 4,000 voters.

Meanwhile, Swaraj Abhiyan accused the government over its liquor policy. Abhiyan leader Yogendra Yadav threatened the government to shut the shop by September 11 or face mass demonstrations.
