New Delhi: Common man being stuck in a traffic jam is a normal phenomenon. VIPs usually don't. US Secretary of State John Kerry, who arrived in Delhi this evening, got a taste of the popular Delhi NCR traffic on his way from the airport to New Delhi.
Rain and thundershowers lashed Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) on Monday evening causing massive traffic jams.
Media accompanying John Kerry said that his carcade got stuck in flooded gridlocked roads from the international airport to his destination in Delhi.
Though there was no official confirmation of the incident but officials at the traffic control room admitted that the roads to the city from the airport were "clogged".
Secretary of State John Kerry and Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker are here for the second Strategic and Commercial (S&C) dialogue with their Indian counterparts External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Heavy rainfall also caused traffic snarls in several parts of the city like ITO, Mandi House and Ramakrishna Ashram Marg among others.
Meanwhile, Gurugram (earlier Gurgaon) was the worst affected yet again with traffic coming almost to a standstill, stranding commuters for hours.
