New Delhi: After focus on civil apathy in the country, a minor boy died in the arms of his father when he was denied admission at Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur region on Monday.

The father had carried his ailing son to the hospital where the hospital refused to admit the child and did not provide any transportation facility to the father to carry his boy to the child hospital. When the father asked for a stretcher to be made available to him, the staff denied him their help. With the Child’s hospital just 250 metres away, the father carried his ailing son on his shoulder who would eventually die before reaching the hospital.

The boy, Ansh, had high fever since Sunday night and was taken to a local hospital in Fazalgunj where he showed no signs of improvement. Ansh’s father then took him to the LLR hospital where Ansh was allegedly refused admission by hospital officials. After Ansh’s death, the aggrieved father wrapped the body of the boy in a bundle and walked back home.

Appalling situation of civil apathy in India has been on the limelight since the shocking news of Odisha man who had to carry the dead body of his wife for a stretch of 12 km because he was not availed ambulance by the hospital. It is incumbent for any hospital in the country to provide transportation assistant and immediate medical assistance to patients in dire need of it.
