The suspects, Qureshi and Rizwan Khan, were sent to Mumbai police custody till September 6

New Delhi: Two Islamic State (IS) suspects, who were handed over to Mumbai Police by Kerala Police, have been sent to police custody till September 6.

The suspects, Qureshi and Rizwan Khan, were accused of radicalising a city resident and were handed over to Mumbai Police on August 29.

Qureshi was arrested from Navi Mumbai in a joint operation conducted by Kerala Police and Maharashtra ATS on July 21 while Khan was apprehended from his residence at Kalyan in Thane district the next day.

Khan was allegedly associated to the Islamic Research Foundation of Zakir Naik. Qureshi is an employee of the foundation. In the past few months, dozens of youth from are reported missing. They are suspected to have joined IS.
