In one of the most bone-chilling incident, a number of college students were were found travelling in a suburban train carrying sickles (a kind of knife used in farming process for cutting crops) and knives on the floor step of the train coach. The students, who belonged to Pachayappa’s College were found playing with sharp weapons when the train was arriving at Nemilichery station on the Chennai-Arakonam railway line. The video of these students who were found playing with sharp weapons has already gone viral on social media.

Following the incident, four college students have been arrested after they were seen playing with sharp weapons on a suburban train while search for others involved in the incident is underway. The incident had come to light after 3 videos were uploaded on a social media site Facebook. In one of the videos, it showed several students were seen waving and playing with sharp weapons who were standing on the exit point of one of the train coaches. The students who were wearing college ID cards, were also found bursting firecrackers on the platform.

Investigating the matter, the Railway Protection Force (RPF), while briefing on the incident hinted about tension been prevailing between different group of students on this particular railway route. The RPF also informed a leading daily that though they were not sure when the incident had taken place but efforts were on to catch the culprits.

According to reports, the police teams have also been asked to keep a check on such train routes and railway stations where these activities have been found, in order to prevent any such cases later. The police teams as part of their investigation may also talk to the college administration and management to help them identify students who were part of this careless act where other people could have been hurt.
