Cauvery water dispute: Karnataka rapped on its knee, Supreme Court says 'Live and let live'

Bengaluru: The Supreme Court on Friday asked Karnataka to 'Live and let live' over the issue of providing water to Tamil Nadu from Cauvery river.
During the hearing of the Cauvery water dispute case, the Karnataka government, in its reply to the apex court over TN's plea seeking release of 50 Thousand Million Cubic (TMC) water in Cauvery, said, "There is a deficit of 80 TMC water and can't give water to Tamil Nadu."
Hearing the plea, Justice Dipak Mishra observed that "'Live & Let Live' principle should be kept in mind" and that "both states should live in harmony".
It was reported that TN had already suffered water deficit in June, July and August.
"At least live up to the Cauvery Tribunal Award of 2007," Justice Misra told Karnataka.
According to reports, the Supreme Court will also to look into features of Cauvery tribunal award & decide on TN plea seeking release of 50tmc water.
However, the hearing has been adjourned for Sep 5 (Monday).
