New Delhi: Sandeep Kumar, who was suspended from the Aam Aadmi Party’s primary membership over the sex CD row, on Saturday was arrested by Delhi police, following a complaint filed against him by a woman who was allegedly seen in the sex tape.
The ousted social welfare minister was earlier booked on charges of rape at the Sultanpuri Police Station in New Delhi.
The woman had approached Sultanpuri police station in north Delhi with a complaint of sexual harassment against the former minister following which a case was filed, a police officer told IANS.
Sandeep Kumar was charged under Sections 376 (punishment for rape) and 328 (causing hurt by means of poison, etc. with intent to commit an offence) of the Indian Penal Code, the officer said.
Earlier in the day, Sandeep had surrendered at the DCP office in Rohini, New Delhi.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had also tweeted, saying the matter was serious and an exemplary action will be taken against Sandeep Kumar.
However, Sandeep Kumar on Thursday denied the allegations against him and claimed that the video was fabricated.
