Air India: Tyre of Delhi-Kochi flight bursts while landing

KOCHI: Escaping from a serious tragedy, an Air India flight from Delhi to Kochi survived with over 170 people on board after its rear tyre burst as it landed at the Nedumbassery airport on Thursday.

All 161 passengers and 12 crew members of the flight AI467 have safely got off the aircraft, inform the airport sources. (Also Read: Air India crew member caught smuggling 3 kgs gold worth Rs 78 lakh: Customs)

Sources further informed that the incident was reported around 9:15 AM after the plane landed at the airport and smoke was noticed. Further examination then revealed that the rear inner tyre of the aircraft had burst. (Also Read: Andhra Pradesh Speaker misbehaves, threatens Air India staff while touring)

Technicians from Bengaluru have arrived at the airport and the flight was being examined. The onward journey of the flight to Sharjah with 138 passengers scheduled at 10.20 AM was delayed due to the incident, the sources said. (Also Read: Planes scrape each other mid-air in Bengaluru)
