New Delhi: On the day when India’s most-cherished and celebrated ‘mother’ Mother Teresa was officially canonised at the Vatican City by Pope Francis, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared his thoughts and said, “Sainthood of Mother Teresa is a memorable and proud moment.”
After Mother Teresa’s canonisation, Bishop Robert Miranda said that she will now be called as Saint Teresa.
“She’ll be called hereafter Saint Teresa, not Mother Teresa. We Indians ought to be very happy,” Bishop Robert Miranda.
Earlier in the day, Mother Teresa’s canonisation ceremony took place in St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City where a number of bishops from the birthplace of Mother Teresa, Albania, had gathered to witness the canonisation, the elevation of a holy person to the likeness of God.
