Supreme Court says, the bail plea will be heard only after his medical report is out

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday indicated that there will be no bail to Asaram in Ahmedabad rape case for now. It said the bail plea will be heard only after his medical report is out.

Last week, the apex court permitted the self-styled godman to travel to Delhi from Jodhpur jail by air for his check-up.

Earlier, the court had also asked the 72-year-old to deposit Rs 1 lakh towards the travel expenses of a medical team that would go to Jodhpur to examine him.

Asaram was arrested after a 16-year-old girl lodged a police complaint on Aug 20, 2013, accusing him of sexually assaulting her at his ashram in Jodhpur. He is being tried under the provision of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
