New Delhi: The much controversial Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections, to be held on September 9, have yet again come in news over a few posters carrying the photo of Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra.
Despite the fact that the poster does not mention the name of any party, the National Students Union of India (NSUI) has alleged that it is a publicity stunt by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) candidates. Interestingly, some things in the poster bear resemblance to the ABVP’s vice-presidential candidate, Priyanka Chhawri, sharing the same name as that of actor. Also, the poster has number 4 written on it, which is Chhawri’s ballot number.
The poster reads – ‘All the best, Priyanka 4 Emmys,’ where ‘for’ has been written as ‘4.’
ABVP national media convenor Saket Bahuguna has clarified that their party has not put up the hoarding.
It is also speculated that some fan of the actor must have put up the poster as a gesture of wishing her luck for the 68th Emmy Award.
In the 2014 elections, a similar incident had happened when the posters of actor Nauheed Cyrusi had cropped up on the campus.
