Bengaluru: Many dead cat fish were seen floating on the polluted Varthur Lake, in East Bengaluru earlier in the week. Experts say it is a sign that the lake is beyond repair now.

Local residents claimed that the water level in the lake had dropped and that there was an increase in solid waste floating on the lake.

Based on complaints, the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board has taken samples of water for testing.

A day ago, thousands of dead fish were found floating on the surface of a tank, which belongs to the Sri Subramaniaswamy Temple, located in Madurai. Locals suspect some miscreants could have poisoned the water, owing to enmity over the fishing lease.
