Indian right-hand medium-pace bowler Praveen Kumar joined Samajwadi Party on Sunday.

New Delhi: Indian right-hand medium-pace bowler Praveen Kumar joined the ruling Samajwadi Party on Sunday. He might contest from Meerut in the upcoming 2017 polls.

Speaking to ABP News, he said, “I joined Samajwadi Party after observing some commendable work of CM Akhilesh Yadav.”

The 29-year-old joined the party in presence of Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and other senior leaders.

Praveen Kumar first came to limelight for his performances for India Red in the NKP Salve Challenger Trophy 2007. He made his One Day International cricket debut for the India cricket team against Pakistan at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur in November 2007.

The Meerut based cricketer has played for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kings XI Punjab, Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers, Gujarat Lions in the Indian Premier League.
