New Delhi: A cop in Balurghat, West Bengal was brutally beaten up and killed on Saturday night for allegedly protesting against the illegal sale of liquor in a grocery shop.

The cop, named Bhabesh Das, had protested against the illegal sale of liquor at a grocery shop. He was posted in Balurghat Police Station.

When Bhabesh Das protested against the shop owner, the owner and his two sons brutally thrashed him, leaving him to eventually succumb to his injuries.

It is reported that during the incident, there were many onlookers, but no one came to the cop's rescue.

A case has been registered against the accused individuals who have been arrested.
