New Delhi: Eid al-Adha is being celebrated with religious fervour all over the country on Tuesday. The festivities began early morning with Muslims flocking the mosques to offer prayers.
Eid ul-Adha, also known as the festival of the sacrifice marks the end of hajj pilgrimage to Mecca. The festival is celebrated by slaughtering sheeps, goats, cows and camels commemorate the prophet Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail on God’s command.
Eid al-Adha is one of the two prominent festivals of Muslims — the other is Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of holy month Ramadan.
