New Delhi: Cabinet minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh aka Lalan Singh in the Bihar Cabinet led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar gave a statement on Monday that they tried everything to oppose the bail of Shahabuddin but law took its own course and former Member of Parliament from RJD got bail after being 11 years in jail in the Rajiv Roshan murder case.

On the question that the government deliberately adopted legal laxity to grant bail to Shahbuddin, Lalan Singh said the state government put its best lawyers to oppose bail to Shahabuddin but unfortunately the former RJD MP managed to get bail.

The state government is facing heat for not moving the Supreme Court immediately for Shahabuddin's bail cancellation. Singh also said that Crime Control Act (CCA) could not be imposed on Shahabuddin because of the Patna High Court judgement states that CCA cannot be imposed on a person who has been in jail for 11 years.
