Bihar: Wanted shooter Mohammad Kaif spotted with RJD leader Shahabuddin

New Delhi: A picture of shooter Mohammad Kaif who is wanted in relation with the killing of journalist Rajdev Ranjan has surfaced on the internet. In the image, the 'wanted' man is seen standing beside Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Mohammad Shahabuddin while he was interacting with media after his release from jail on Saturday.

Siwan SP, Saurabh Shah said that a probe against Kaif in the journalist murder case is under way.

“Essential raids are being conducted and we have received new photos which are being analysed. They will be arrested soon,” said Shah.

On May 14 2016, Rajdev Ranjan, a journalist and the bureau chief of the Hindi daily Hindustan, was shot dead in Bihar's Siwan district.

According to the police, Rajdev has no enmity with anyone and the puzzle behind his murder was yet to be unraveled. The deceased Rajdev Ranjan had an experience of more than 20 years in the field of journalism.

On Saturday, Shahabuddin, who is a member of the RJD National Committee, was released on bail by the Patna High Court after 11 years.

In May 2007, Shahabuddin was arrested in the case of a murder of a witness in the 2004 killing of two persons in Siwan and was sentenced to life imprisonment.
