New Delhi: A shopkeeper was beaten to death by two men in Thiruvottiyur on Tuesday for demanding Rs 6, the cost of water packets that they had purchased from him.

Two men, identified as Saravanan, 30, and Shakthi, 38, of R K Nagar, asked Sadhanandham, the victim, for water packets. He gave them, but the two refused to pay and tried to ride away.

When he objected, the two men kicked him in the chest and fled.

The 38-year-old Sadhanandham was taken to a nearby hospital by other shopkeepers where he was declared brought dead.

The local residents and the shopkeepers held a protest after the incident happened.

Police has arrested both Saravanan and Shakthi and a case has been registered against them.
