Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday appointed actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui as the brand ambassador of Samajwadi Kisan Bima Yojna.
The Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav made the announcement at a programme organised at his residence in Lucknow on Wednesday.
“Nawazuddin Siddiqui has been appointed the brand ambassador of Kisan Bima Yojna to popularise the scheme which is aimed at providing financial assistance and economic security to the farmers and weaker sections in the state,” Akhilesh Yadav said.
Speaking at the event, Nawazuddin said he was happy to be a part of such a scheme as he was from the family of farmers and this new scheme will provide security to them.
Rahul Bhatnagar, Chief secretary said the scheme will cover around 3 crore families of farmers.
“In the event of a farmer’s death, his family would get up to R5 lakh and if anybody in the family falls sick, they can get cashless treatment of up to R2.5 lakh,” Bhatnagar said.
