Mumbai: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued an alert in Mumbai, warning heavy to very heavy rainfall in the state over the next 48 hours. The warning comes a day after Mumbai witnessed the return of monsoon in the state.

"A low pressure area has developed which is moving towards the Western side. This will cause very heavy rainfall in Mumbai, along with parts of central Maharashtra, the Konkan region, Marathwada and Goa as well," IMD Mumbai Director V K Rajeev said.

Many parts of Mumbai received heavy rainfall on Thursday.

The IMD Mumbai Director said weather system is likely to change and there might be a resumption of rainfall.

A high tide of 1.21 meters is expected at 5.13 pm and the next high tide at 11.22 pm.
