Kolkata: The Kolkata city has been put on high alert following reports of a possible bomb threat.
According to inputs from state and central intelligence units, the Viswakarma Puja (Saturday) could be a target day.
All the police stations in the city have been alerted and security has been tightened in Park Street and Bidhannagar areas.
“We have received inputs from the intelligence department to be extra cautious, as there might be a terror attack in Kolkata or in any public place under Bidhannagar Police Commissionarate.
“We have increased security in public places, and have alerted the local police stations to take immediate action in case of suspicious activities,” a senior police officer said on condition of anonymity.
Security arrangements have been made at markets, malls, restaurants and other public places. Special security has been beefed up at Kalighat temple, Jubilee Bridge and Dakshineswar temple.
