New Delhi: On Friday while speaking to media former Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) MP Shahabuddin who was recently released from jail after 11 years asserted that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is troubled with his release.
He even added that he is also a common human being who will follow the apex court's order and is not concerned about Bihar government's challenging his bail in the Supreme Court.
Shahabuddin said "I am not different from any other ordinary citizen who has to follow the orders of the court and I will comply with whatever the decision is".
When he was asked about being spotted with allegedly sharpshooter Mohammed Kaif who is at present in charges over the murder of journalist Rajdeo Rajan, Shahabuddin said, "Why can't I have a picture with him (Kaif)? You are calling him a shooter now because of a small disagreement he had in his locality. He works on daily wages and earns 10,000 rupees. He takes care of his entire family on that meagre sum. He does not have the time or the means to go around extorting people."
Shahabuddin emphasised that all charges against him are political conspiracy and added that BJP is in trouble with his release. He said, “BJP doesn’t love Rajdeo Ranjan or Chandrakeshwar, they are just against me being out on bail.”
Meanwhile, the Bihar government filed an appeal in the Supreme Court and has challenged the Patna High Court order granting bail to former RJD MP Shahabuddin.
The court agreed to hear the plea on Monday September 19, for the cancellation of bail after Counsel Prashant Bhushan mentioned the matter before the bench of Chief Justice T.S.Thakur and Justice A.M. Khanwilkar.
Criminal-turned-politician Mohammad Shahabuddin was released from jail after 11 years and returned home to Siwan on 10th September, the former Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) party member did not resist from sharing his displeasure with the Nitish government in the state.
Shahabuddin was serving his jail term for the murder of Rajiv Raushan. After walking free, Shahabuddin said he was framed and it was court that jailed him and has now released him as well.
Shahabuddin was found guilty for kidnapping of brothers Girish Raj and Satish Raj and then murdering them. His son Osama was charged for the killing of BJP leader Rajiv Raushan, who was a prime witness in the case.
