After the incident, three gau rakshaks filed police complaint against Ayyub for illegally transporting animals

New Delhi: An Ahmedabad man who was in critical condition in hospital after being brutally thrashed by alleged cow vigilantes or Gau rakshaks died on Friday, reports claim.

Mohammad Ayyub, a 29-year-old man, was attacked by cow vigilantes four days ago when he was seen with another man, Sameer Sheikh, transporting a cow and a calf.

Around 3 am on Tuesday, Ayyub's car met with an accident which resulted in the death of the calf on the vehicle. When an injured Ayyub tried to flee from the scene, passersby caught him and brutally thrashed him. The mob was on the brink of killing Ayyub when a policeman passing by stopped the violence.

After the incident, three gau rakshaks filed police complaint against Ayyub for illegally transporting animals.
