New Delhi: An Uber driver was found dead in his cab in Sector 62 of Noida under mysterious circumstances on late Thursday evening.
Identified as Sukhveer, the driver hailed from Etah in Uttar Pradesh. Police found him dead inside his cab with the seat-belt tied around his neck. The nature of the crime pointing towards involvement of a third person, police have registered a case of murder against unidentified persons.
“On Thursday evening, some passersby informed police about a person lying dead in a WagonR near the underpass in Sector 62. A police team rushed to the spot and found a person lying dead on the driver’s seat. The rear left door of the car was open,” said one police officer.
Sukhveer had Rs 3000 cash inside his purse which had not been robbed by the assailant. His mobile phone was also found in the car which, police suspect, rules out the possibility of the murderer being a mere robber.
“His wife and children live in Etah and he used to drive in the national capital region. He left home on Wednesday morning. He did not respond to phone calls from his family on Thursday. His family was informed about the incident,” Police said.
