Ramkumar commits suicide in jail

New Delhi: In a shocking turn of events, the prime accused in the most sensational murder case of a software engineer from Chennai, S.Swathi, committed suicide on Sunday, September 18 in jail.

As per police reports, P. Ramkumar who had killed 24-year-old IT professional on June 24 at  Nungambakkam Railway Station committed suicide in jail by biting a power cable. Ramkumar was immediately rushed to a government hospital in Royapettah, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Swathi, an IT professional with Infosys, was stabbed to death at the suburban Nungambakkam railway station in Chennai on June 24 allegedly by Ramkumar, who had been stalking her.

Chennai police nabbed Ramkumar, 22, an unemployed graduate after going through many CCTV footages and signals from Swathi’s phone which he had taken. Police arrested him from the state’s Tirunelveli district on July 2.
