Kolkata: An Air India flight Al-729 on Tuesday received a threat call at the Netaji Subhas Chandra International Airport, minutes before the flight was scheduled to take off.

A woman reportedly called Air India at around 8.20 am and alerted them about a suspected bomb on the flight.

“A woman introduced herself as calling from Rajarhat and informed that Air India flight AI 729 from Kolkata to Guwahati will be blown off at 9:30 am,” an official said.

The boarding was immediately stopped and the aircraft was taken to the isolation for inspection.

“We have evacuated the aircraft and now it has been taken to the isolation bay, where search operation is being carried out. Till now, we have not been able to find anything on board the aircraft,” said a senior official of the CISF, in charge of the airport security.

The security has been tightened in and around the airport and the CISF officials are investigating the matter.
