Ludhiana: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Jagdish Gagneja who was attacked by two motorcycle-borne assailants last month, passed away on Thursday.
After a prolonged battle for life, Brigadier Jagdish Gagneja (retd) passed away due to kidney infection in Ludhiana on Thursday morning.
The RSS leader was shot at by two motorcycle borne assailants leaving him seriously injured in the heart of Jalandhar on August 6.
He was rushed to a private hospital in critical condition with bullet injuries in his stomach.
The right-wing leader and his wife were in his car when he was shot at by two masked assailants as he got out of the vehicle.
The assailants fled from the spot after firing. They also fired in the air to scare people.
An FIR was lodged against two unidentified persons at Police Station, Division 4.
The CBI launched an enquiry five weeks after the attack on the RSS leader.
