New Delhi: After heavy downpour lashed Hyderabad on Wednesday night, residents in the city woke up to a grim scenario of inundated roads and flooded intersections. Several localities in Hyderabad were deeply submerged in water, prompting school authorities to shut down the institution for the day.

Places like Qutubullapur and Shamirpet were the worst-hit as residents saw six feet of swollen water sweeping into houses.

However, no casualties were reported despite hundreds of vehicles being damaged due to the water.

“The two lakes near Bandari Layout were overfl owing. There was six feet of water on the main road of our colony. Though we have fi led a complaint with the GHMC to drain out the water and even applied for repair work on the road, our problems remain unresolved. Now we have no choice but to stay indoors,” Sunit Pujari, an IT employee, was quoted as saying by the Times of India.

Due to the pathetic condition of the facilities around the city, members of the Telugu Nadu Students’ Federation staged protest against the GHMC.
