Hyderabad: The Telangana govt on Thursday declared holiday for two days i.e. September 23 and 24 for all educational institutions in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy district due to heavy rains.

The Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao issued a press release stating that all schools, colleges and universities falling under the jurisdiction of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, will remain shut for today and tomorrow.

The CM further said that the only institutions that will remain open will be the ones identified as centres for group I exam.

Due to continuous rains, many parts of Hyderabad were inundated, causing panic among people.

Places like Qutubullapur and Shamirpet were the worst-hit as residents saw six feet of swollen water sweeping into houses.

However, no casualties were reported despite hundreds of vehicles being damaged due to the water.
