Mumbai: In a shocking incident, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) led by Raj Thackeray on Friday issued a threat to all Pakistani artists to leave India in 48 hours else they will be pushed out.
"We give a 48 hour deadline to Pakistani Actors and artists to leave India or MNS will push them out," Amey Khopkar, MNS Chitrapat Sena.
Clarifying the party's stand, MNS spokesperson Sandeep Deshpande said, "Giving roles to Pakistani artists, is it Patriotism? So much of attacks happening in India, do you think that we should allow Pakistani artists to stay in India ... We should give a message to Pakistan that we are not going to tolerate this anymore. The government should deport them to Pakistan."
This is not the first time that MNS and its party people have involved themselves in such controversies by issuing threats to Pakistani artists. Earlier also, MNS had tried to cancel a Pakistani artist concert that was scheduled to take place in Mumbai.
Reacting on the issue, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Shaina NC said, "I don't want to comment on somebody who wants to be sensationally noticed. I think there are legitimate ways to display agitation and emotion."
