New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India on Friday issued notices to Bihar health minister Tej Pratap Yadav and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Mohammad Shahabuddin asking them for reply within two weeks in relation with murder of journalist Rajdeo Ranjan.
A few days ago, controversy erupted in the state after a photograph of an absconding accused in the murder case with RJD chief Lalu Prasad's son was surfaced.
Wife of the deceased had approached the apex court seeking probe and trial in her husband's murder case to be shifted from Bihar to Delhi. In her petition, Asha had said that Mohammad Kaif aka Bunty was seen with Shahabuddin and Tej Pratap.
Kaif surrendered before Siwan court in an extortion case and was sent to 14 days judicial custody. He is also a wanted criminal for other crimes including extortion and looting.
The nation was taken aback after an image surfaced showing alleged shooter Kaif standing with Shahabuddin. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been probing into Shahabuddin's involvement in murder of Ranjan.
A Siwan court sentenced Shahabuddin to life term for the murder of two brothers in 2004. However, he was granted bail by the Patna High Court in the murder case of the third and eldest brother.
