New Delhi: In a matter which may render Prime Minister Modi's special status talks for disabled people as a mere eyewash, a disabled girl from Madhya Pradesh has sought permission for euthanasia after she was repeatedly rejected for jobs.

Laxmi Yadav, a girl hailing from Madhya Pradesh, has M. Phil and LLM degrees in her name. However, when Laxmi applied for job knowing that there was 3 percent reservation for specially-abled people, she was rejected by the place where she applied.

A dejected Laxmi said in an interview: "I have asked for euthanasia from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Pranab Mukherjee, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan that I am unable to find a job for myself despite being so qualified. For the last 10-12 years, I have been trying to get a job but all my efforts have gone in vain."

"I am more qualified than a normal person. I am just not able to do practice because everywhere I am being told that because I am physically challenged, I won't be able to work properly, won't be able to climb up the stairs etc, etc. They are more sure than me that I would not be able to work," Laxmi added.

Laxmi said that Madhya Pradesh government has launched many schemes to benefit the disabled, but none of them have benefited her in any way.
