New Delhi: The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi will no more be addressed with titles like ‘Mr’, ‘Shri’, ‘Mananiya’, ‘Honourable’ or ‘Shriman’, said the PMO.
As per the latest directive, the PMO has asked all the ministries to do away with such appendices to the PM’s name and follow the standard format to address the Prime Minister that is ‘PM Narendra Modi’ only in government advertisements.
As per sources, the PMO said that all departments have also been asked to appoint a specific nodal officer to get their respective advertisements cleared by the PMO.
Union Information and Broadcasting ministry (I&B) sources said that the PMO had repeatedly expressed displeasure that its directives regarding government advertisements are not being followed.
Sources added that recently an advertisement was almost issued by the Human Resource Development Ministry (HRD) that had such titles ahead of the names of three ministers, but not before the Prime Minister’s name.
