Union Water Resources minister Uma Bharti to hold meeting on Cauvery water issue today

Chennai: Union Water Resources Ministry under Uma Bharti has written to the Chief Secretaries of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, seeking the presence of Chief Ministers of both the states to attend the meeting to discuss the impending Cauvery water issue on Thursday, as directed by the Supreme Court.
Amidst the Cauvery issue, Karantaka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, will hold an all party meeting to discuss the agenda on what should be represented on behalf of Karantaka government in the meeting with Union Minister Uma Bharti.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa, who is unwell, had also convened a meeting from the hospital which was attended by senior ministers. The CM had appointed three IAS officers including Chief Secretary to represent states’ in the meeting.
The Union Ministry's decision to call this meeting had come hours after Supreme Court had asked the competent authority of the Union Government to convene a meeting.
